There is an analogous drug used in cattle to synchronize estrus or abort a foetus that can be used in dogs. In dogs there are a multitude of complications just as described for those of women. Several dogs given the drug in my 35+ years of practice could have been described as an ultimate disaster causing the demise of the female dog.
