Remember, this is a movie about an over weight white guy that was wrongly accused. I doubt anyone under 30 remembers the case. There’s no sex, violence, or comedy. Its a good movie but will not attract a broad audience, it will also not get positive media attention for obvious reasons.
You hit the nail on the head: A over-weight nice White guy that is not a racist or reprobate of some sort, and the icing on the top, he was innocent and victimized by the authorities.

Most people going to see this movie will go because Eastwood makes great movies but the subject matter is not going to stir many people that age.
I have a friend who is 40ish and he has no idea who Richard Jewell is. Heck, he didn’t even recall there was a bombing at the Atlanta games. I can’t say I blame him that much as it’s not an event that one hears about very often. I think the only time I have heard Richard Jewell mentioned over the years is when Hannity brings him up.
