Since you are originally from NYC, do you remember the Kitty Genovese murder? When I started in Corrections at Auburn prison, her murderer, Winston Moseley was there, and he was an Administration Building porter, which meant he got to go up front every day to work in a building where the Superintendent, and Deputy-Superintendents, along with all the female clerks, secretaries, etc., worked. That always bothered me, because when he was at Attica, while being taken to the outside hospital for a self-inflicted injury, he escaped from C.O. custody, stole one of the officer's pistols after beating him with it. He later broke into a couple's home, tied up the husband, and repeatedly raped the woman over several days before finally being caught.
I'm a female, and I knew who he was before I'd even been assigned to Auburn. Moseley thought he was a ladies' man, acting very smooth, and suave. As a rookie hack, from time to time I would have to relieve the officer on the Wire Gate post so he could have lunch. Moseley would regularly pass by on his way to work in the Admin Building. I always asked for his ID card, and he'd try to get out of having to show it to me. Our name tags had our first initial and then our last name on them, and one day he tried to strike up a conversation with me, and asked me what the K. on my name tag stood for. I told him it was none of his business, and he left. Later, I wished I had told him it stood for "Kitty," just to see what his reaction would have been...but I was too new, and still too green to have even thought of it at the time. The guy was a slime ball, and I praised God when I heard that he had finally died in prison in March 2016.

What I’m understanding is that it’s the police’s responsibility to keep the city and it’s parks safe, does that make the police culpable?

This is upper Manhattan. The park is adjacent to her school and next to Mt. Sinai. Not the mecca of crime, nor a bad part of town. Actually, its the most crime-ridden park in NYC.

Store owners interviewed in this hood knew the 13 year old and his gang and repeatedly
want something done about them .The precinct close by did little .
Another coed had ran for her life onto a store.
The college and the police have allowed these savages to be unleashed on
naive coeds .
The pot rumour comment during a ongoing murder investigation is
reckless and unreal .

This is why we need capital punishment for drug dealers, like in Asia. They need to be publicly hanged.

He spreading a rumor .
More suspects are at large .
That area close to the precinct has awful crime now and
the suspects have been terrorizing the hood for awhile .
He appears to be planting excuses for either some laxed policing or
DeBlasio orders .

When I graduated from high school in Rochester, in 1965, I went to work for the Monroe County Department of Child Welfare. At the time, the building was on South Avenue, right next door to the old Monroe County Workhouse/Penitentiary, and on the other side of us was the Welfare Department and Surplus Food Office. Just a block away was Rochester Psychiatric Center. Those were the days...no politically correct terms to play with. Prior to my working for Corrections, I spent about 9 months working as a Safety Officer at Hutchings Psychiatric Center in Syracuse, NY. During that short time I had more scuffles with residents than I did in my 25 years with Corrections. I figured that if I was going to have to tussle with people, I might as well take the Correction Officer’s job, and be paid as a Grade 14, than as a Grade 9 Safety Officer.

It’s dark at 5:30 PM this time of the year.

Agreed. Appears the police union terd is attempting to blame the victim rather than the feral youths that murdered her. Friggin cops suck sometimes.
On the other hand, it wouldn’t bother me in the least if Greta Thornberg got stabbed to death while trying to purchase a bag of weed the next time she is in Central Park.

“So what? It doesn’t matter why she was there. Does that make it less of a crime?”
Exactly.

And I would say the same about any time after dark.

I have never known of a collage that didn’t have at least one pot dealer on campus. Why venture into a park in NYC? Makes no sense.
To: mad_as_he$$
Certainly no shortage of dealers where I went to school either. One has to wonder if she was trying to make some kind of ‘statement’ by doing business with the locals.
