Gender identity is a function of which is the dominant aspect of consciousness, no matter the actual gender. Many things influence this.
Masculine consciousness spins to the left around the physical body while feminine consciousness spins to the right. Each is controlled by their respective brain organ, amygdala for feminine and hippocampus for masculine. Memories are stored at the intersection of the two aspects of consciousness in the soul and are physical objects to me.
It takes me less than a minute to locate a PTSD memory in the soul of a person. A few minutes longer to remove it.
It truly is just mind over matter... Some can and some can’t. Some who can are told they can’t, or that they are not allowed to. Of course they can... Just listen to their own heart and ignore the bullshit... “I am me” is huge over “they want me to be”. :)
You didn’t include a major influence on feminine and masculine traits - hormones. That is not in the mind. It is basic physiology that runs through the bloodstream into many organs. Men don’t get a morning stiffy while still asleep, because they’re thinking about some hot women (or even dreaming). They get them because of the natural rhythm of testosterone working with their circadian clock. Women have the same circadian clock and respond to their hormone levels differently.
