I tested what you found and confirmed.

It doesn’t “change” to “q”s - they are “q”s embedded in the doc and just looks like “g”s because they’re underlined. VERY TRICKY! This is a massive “Q” proof! WWG1WGA :)

They are g's in the PDF file. I snipped this directly from the PDF. You can see the bottom curve of each g in the underline the same way the bottom curve of the j is in the underline.
