So, if 30 Senators fail to show up for the vote (per Flake), the Dems would only need 47 Senators voting yes to remove President Trump from office (47 would bring the total to over two thirds of the 70 members present).

What can be done to discourage the Dems from doing this?
I know these people are stupid, but they aren't that stupid. There will be more than pitchforks and torches in DC should they stoop so low. Plan Z.
McConnell is the Last one to count among the stupid, when it comes to Senate Rules morphing into a Suicide Pack against any sitting POTUS, in an Impeachment vote.
