I have a painfully long analysis of the IG report over at @just_security. TL;DR: The FBI screwed up badly; it doesn’t look like political bias was the reason; in some ways that’s scarier because the issues here are probably pervasive.

I say this in the piece but: It doesn’t look like the driving factor here was political bias, not just because Horowitz can’t prove why people screwed up, but because the overall picture he paints doesn’t gel with that story.

As in: the Deep State story usually has a senior cabal pushing a political agenda unbeknownst to the rank & file, but that’s pretty close to the opposite of the pattern of problems Horowitz found.

Mostly what he finds is case agents omitting information that might cut against the case, higher level lawyers reviewing submissions sometimes pushing back & getting more disclosure (e.g. Steele being hired for oppo) but mostly not knowing what they don’t know.
