Did Not Stake My Credibility On Anonymous Ghosts!

Since they got away with publishing many demonstrably false defamatory stories to this point, they seem to think they’ll always get away with it. Nunes however has an exceptionally strong case here.

CNN refused to retract a story based on a SINGLE SOURCE - Parnas & his lawyer Bondy - that at a SPECIFIC PLACE - Vienna, Austria - and during a SPECIFIC TIME FRAME - between Nov. 31 and Dec 3, 2018 - Devin Nunes met Viktor Shokin.

The only EVIDENCE CNN proffers this story is true is Parnas making the claim he was PERSONALLY TOLD THIS by Viktor Shokin himself.

Parnas is currently under indictment & is trying to get himself a DEAL.

Something that makes any claims he proffers immediately suspect.

On the other hand, Nunes will be able to show in civil court that:

1) Viktor Shokin will say on the record that he and Nunes have never met

2) records showing Nunes was traveling with a rather SIZABLE CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION IN LIBYA & MALTA from Nov. 31-Dec. 3.

3) these records will include photos with time stamps, expense records, credit card expenditures & eyewitness testimony from others members of Congress & their staff that will establish EXACTLY where Devin Nunes was during the time period of Nov. 31-Dec. 3, 2018.

It will be demonstrated to a jury that there is just no way Devin Nunes suddenly hopped on a plane, flew over 1,200 miles away to Vienna, met with Shokin, then flew back again before anybody noticed he was gone.

There could have been no fact checking of Parnas’ story before CNN ran it.

So why would they put themselves in this position?

I spend the 2nd half of the column exploring why CNN would publish a demonstrably false story smearing a political target.
