Subject: Travel pool report #4b - More POTUS quotes from bilat with Stoltenberg (Macron/NATO)
Response to Macron comments on NATO being brain dead:
I know, and then Turkey responded by saying he was brain dead, which was interesting. NATO serves a great purpose. It got to be unfair for the United States because the United States was paying a disproportionate about, and I heard that President Macron said that NATO is brain dead and I think thats insulting to a lot of different forces, including a man that does a very good job at running NATO. It has a great purpose, especially with the fact that NATO is becoming much more flexible in terms of what it looked at.
Another comment about Macron:
Its a tough statement. When you make a statement like that, that is a very, very nasty statement to essentially, including them, 28 countries. You have a very high unemployment rate in France. France is not doing well economically at all. Theyre starting to tax other peoples products, so therefore we go and tax them, which is taking place right now on technology and were doing their wines and everything else. Its a very tough statement to make when you have such difficulty in France. You look at whats happened with the yellow vests or you look at whats going on during certain parts of this season, theyve had a very rough year. You just cant go around making statements like that about NATO. Its very disrespectful.
Yet another comment about France/Macron:
Nobody needs NATO more than France, if you just look back over the last long period of time. Nobody needs NATO more than France and frankly the one that benefits really the least is the United States. We benefit the least. Were helping Europe. Europe unites and they go against a common foe that may or may not be a foe cant tell you that, but there are other foes out there also. But I think nobody needs it more than France, and thats why I think when France makes a statement like they made about NATO, thats a very dangerous statement for them to make.

President Zelensky has repeatedly said there was no pressure to investigate @POTUS @realDonaldTrump’s political rivals. Again today:
I never talked to the president from the position of a quid pro quo. Thats not my thing.
How much clearer can he get?
