I sometimes think it would be useful politically too.

However I have to keep reminding myself most people don’t find “political battle” interesting. Most people are really put off by it. A Senate trial to show “We do thinks properly & fairly. Not like those partisan Rats!” is a lesson that will be lost on most. John Q Public just wants it gone out of their sight! A continued battle in the Senate will just reinforce the notion “They’re all the same!”. The McConnell led senate just dismissing it quickly will be doing an obvious partisan act, but an act most would be happy to see.

That could be true. Especially if they follow it with explaining why they’re not even going to give the allegations any credence.

But I still want to see all the evildoers squirm :-)

I think President Trump would like the opportunity to prove his innocence, rather than forever be known as impeached.
