If you take in perspective you would understand that camera angle is not the answer. He is over a foot further away than his dad as indicated by their feet so if anything his image is actually reduced by distance. I agree with the 6’4’ estimate. The same thing happened to me when I was a kid.

He's a tall drink of water to be sure - probably 6'3 or 4. But I do think that the angle, not perspective distorts the size. This one is a little better IMO...
