I dont get it either, and I am not sure that we are interpreting the rules correctly. We may be too restrictive?
Have a gander at this:

We need some lawfags to look at #362
I don’t think the issue is the exact legal definition. It’s more the cost of a lawyer if someone sues you, even if they’re wrong. The goal seems to be to avoid lawsuits and to encourage self policing, which often is policing by those who are bothered by something or someone and find this a pleasant way to pass their time. Those items not policed, simply slip thru. Might cost more to install real policing, than to hire a lawyer for the occasional lawsuit when you can show you’re trying to cut back copyright infringement.

(why r we both up?) :)
nite
I’m blinking rapidly and have already heated my hot water bottle, so won’t be for long.
Someone up above recommended the show The Blacklist, so we’ve been watching that. Really great.
To protect FR from being sued into oblivion do not post cartoons by Steve Kelly which are © Pittsburgh Post-Gazette [post-gazette.com] one of the sites that has complained about copyright violations.

To protect FR from being sued into oblivion do not post © gettyimages photos with the copyright mark cropped out of the photo.
Okay.... a © mark might have been in the lower part of the photo that is cut off, I don’t know, but they are also published with the copyright credit in text accompanying the photo, so we need to check that too, in this case...
(JIM WATSON/AFP/Getty Images) and neither AFP or Getty is allowed.
I have no doubt.

We don't know? Or do we? How about $15,000 liability for damages for each infringed work [such as one photo, one cartoon, or one article]
That could add up pretty fast!! Quoting my earlier post...
The House passed a new copyright bill (the CASE Act) on October 22, 2019, and in the Senate it has been approved by the Committee on the Judiciary without amendment.
As outlined in the bill, damages would be capped at $15,000 for each infringed work [article, photo, cartoon, etc.] I fear that FR would not survive the financial loss of paying multiple damages for copyright infringement, and with that kind of money involved, lawsuits would inevitably follow.
I clicked your link... but the post had already been removed.

You have a wonderful way with words. As a moderator I think you are the best...keep up the great work!!
I skipped to the end of the thread to make comments on copyright issues, then I saw that you were already covering it way ahead of me.
“She’s not a real moderator.”
But she did stay at a Holiday Inn Express...
"Since other threads post cartoons, and even Q talk, with impunity, I think it's a safe bet that we have a couple of mean-spirited lurkers who make it their mission to report us to like-minded Mods. Lurkeys."

I don't understand your resentment. This forum is provided for us. It has rules. If you see violations on another thread you need to report abuse.
Since before I signed up in 2005 the site owner has pleaded with us to avoid copyright infringement , having already gone through a major lawsuit in 2000. Then there was another costly lawsuit in 2010.
We as members have been asked repeatedly to stop posting forbidden material, and for all of us to help in removing it from every thread on the site.
The resentment comes from the feeling that this thread/topic is being singled out for enforcement. That some mods have a personal bias against the 'Q topic' and pay special attention to any infraction, make 'suspension' decisions unfairly, look the other way at rule violations committed by 'non-Q people' when 'engaging' with 'Q people'. Punish Q people while letting their attackers run rampant.
And the fact that every single photo/cartoon is all of a sudden being deleted and people suspended ONLY on this thread only adds to those feelings. Surely you can understand that.
Now, all this may just be paranoid fantasy, but the feeling persists. How do I know? Because I have had those 'feelings' on several occasions.
I realize that mods are human and not bots, and as humans have personal biases which can often times be difficult to purge completely while performing in their role.
I get that. But think of the frustration people might feel when treated unfairly.
I don't accuse you of these things, mind you. I just wish the mods would be sure that they perform their roles fairly, and that they police themselves if they discover that one or more among their number are behaving as I've described.
We are all willing to abide by CLEARLY LAID OUT rules, and we know when we are behaving badly and will take our lumps when we are out of line, without complaint.
Just let justice be fair, is all.

Not scared. Just saddened when I see how our society’s sense of propriety has devolved to the the left’s level. Not what our parents taught us, for sure.
