Back in 82 a plane went into the potomac because of lack of deicing.
Short time later (week?), i’m on that same runway in the middle of another ice\sleet storm...everyone on edge..
Pilot came on the intercom and assured us we go nowhere until we are properly de-iced.

That must have been very frightening. All of America was watching as the not-rescue helicopters dropped a ring to people in the icy water. Most could not hold on until they got to shore. Finally one man, ( was his name Lenny Skutnik?) watching from the shore, jumped in and swam out to help a person. I remember yelling at my TV for someone in the copter to jump in to hold a person for the few minutes it took to get to the shore.
