"My mother’s side of the family had several members with severe winter depression symptoms and my other son has that. 5,000 IU of Vitamin D seems to be a big help."

I happy to see your interest in that article.

I take 10, 000 IU of Vitamin D ever since I posted this article 13 years ago : The Antibiotic Vitamin

Now, if you take high doses of vitamin D, you should be taking vitamin K also. I'm uncertain about how much vitamin K but, I take 100 MCG daily.

Vitamin D And K2 Work In Tandem To Slow Arterial Calcification

I've said for my 20 years on FR that "we are all Neanderthal" and DNA studies have shown that to be correct for everyone in the world except Africans.

BTW, The VA (Veterans Administration) doctors had me on 50,000 IU of vitamin D daily at one point.

I heard a report that of our 20,000 or so genes, Vitamin D has an effect on about 2,000 of those genes. I have just recently started adding 100 mcg of K2 to our daily supplement packets. At 81, I don’t seem to have any heart issues, but my guy at 74 has had episodes of tachycardia in the past. None for the past several years with tweaks to his packets. But we ran out of several important items a few weeks ago. Then he went for 3 days not taking his packets. Then spent all of 1 day resting because he felt an episode about to start. We finally got the missing supplements and after 3 days taking the renewed packets, he has no symptoms.
