“The fall and winter of 1976-77 was one of the worst I can remember! Proof of THE COMING ICE AGE! The cold began with one of the coldest Thanksgivings here ever, and January, the Continental US had complete cloud cover all that month with several really bad snow storms.”
I lived in the country with another guy that winter. He had a very well set up 4X4 truck. It was a terrible night and no sane people would have gone joy riding, however we’re talking two testosterone and alcohol fueled young men. Shortly after taking off we saw some taillights down a back road at a bad angle. Someone in the ditch. It ended up being someone from out of the area who had gotten hopelessly lost. He had a light jacket and was almost out of gas. We took him to his relatives house. It got to nearly ten below that night with high winds. On the way home Jim turned to me and said “Did we save that guy’s life?” I said that we probably did. It kind of shook us both up. We had no idea that it would happen when we headed out.
Christmas ‘83. HUGE arctic blast.
Reagan’s second inaugural, same thing.
Had to be moved indoors.
This just happens from time to time.
Those of us in boot camp (Great Lakes) will never forget the winter of ‘76-’77.
Your story strengthens my belief in God.
Good for the both of you
