I think it used to be standard practice to do that and put in your own people, but then Ge-orge Doubleya Bush decided not to do it when he got elected. That’s how we got so tilted to the left.

Right on! It was standard, and he seemed terrified to not be perceived as a good guy who trusted his opponents to act honorably. And when they didn’t act as they should (as anyone of normal intelligence would have guessed), he seemed frozen in confusion of how to deal with such people.
