The fires are in the usual locations... which are traditionally wind corridors with exposed, dry grassy areas.

Some forests have mortality rates of over 50%, and it’s only a matter of time before they become conflagrations. The bark beetles killed most of them off, and nothing has been done to thin the forests, save for the sides of the roads that will provide an escape route when needed.
