Interesting wander here. Dracunculiasis (Guinea worm) would have that as a developmental stage. You remove adult worms emergent from the skin by typically wrapping it around a stick, and taking up the slack when the worm relaxes it’s anti removal barbs.
The Gates (as in Bill) foundation has been a big player in the current near eradication of the parasite from its last holdout areas, some of the more remote parts of Africa.
The adult form exhibits a type of host behavior modification in that it raises a painful boil which is soothed by immersion in water, where it bursts and releases the larval or proglottid stage (not sure if there’s a 3rd incarnation in them off top of my head).
It definitely ranks high in the gross and creepy parasite department. Look up horse hail worm for similar that affects bugs...

I know sometimes I scare myself with Bouvier’s Law Dictionary, Wikipedia and that damn go-ogle search.
Though I can’t think of anything more apropos than calling these Trump hating demons worms on a stick.
The worm on a stick thing reminded me of the serpent/staff descriptive regarding Moses and the Pharaoh’s magicians and that medical association symbol, the snake wrapped around the staff. For some reason it also reminded me of a Barber’s pole.
Once I had the word from an anagram solver and found out what the word meant, I go-ogled, set to images, cercariae and saw a picture of one being removed from a person in Africa. God have mercy.
Maybe it just goes to illustrate how this government of ours has been so perverted and how Congress parasitizes us, their hosts. Figuratively they are sucking the blood out of us.
Anyone who has pets knows how dangerous a parasite is and it takes strong, usually bad tasting medicine to rid them of the blood suckers.
