Hard to tell how that would turn out. Would probably start a feedback loop - the more edibles, the greater the munchies and the more desire for edibles...

But working against that would be the increasing lethargy and decreasing dexterity of the test subjects.

Clearly, a substantial government grant is the only possible solution to resolving this question.
