Rush was making the case today that they are intending to use the Nixon playbook - not holding an impeachment vote, but eroding support within his own party so that he is forced to resign on his own.

Unfortunately, for Dems, that same Nixon scenario can’t ever work, today. Times have long since changed from even pretending to apply Marquis of Queensbury Rules. This is open political warfare and half the country already knows that the Democrats are Socialist/Marxist dangers to the Republic, as opposed to what was generally thought of Dems and R’s, in the Nixon day’s gone by, when Republicans and Democrats were both still thought gentlemen and because WALTER CRONKITE said so.
No way can the Left hang on that hope, in my humble opinion.
The kind of guys who betrayed Nixon were like the Never- Trumpers now and they’ve been lost from the beginning. Trump’s support grow with each attack.
I would say 60% approval would be a low guess.
