The dutchsinse 3deq feed was restored. There has still not been any higher magnitude activity in Ridgecrest area for four months now. There were two deep today in Figi + Japan but nothing like a few weeks ago when they were stacked up like a coiled spring. TBD always of course ;)
Several articles came out yesterday repeating Caltech reports about movement on the Garlock fault, which lies between Searles Valley and the San Andreas fault. Caltech suggested an increased likelihood of 8.0 magnitude quakes along the San Andreas.
Searles Valley was the center of a 7.1 magnitude quake in July and many, many smaller quakes since. Dutchsinse noted months ago that the huge amount of activity around Searles Valley was likely to move the Garlock fault, and that this in turn could stimulate major activity on the San Andreas.
Yesterday, Dutchsinse noted that mainstream geophysicists are beginning to follow his lead in making near-term forecasts of earthquake activity rather than just long-term prognostications.
