Request denied. Local Smiths/Kroger customer service folks said they will NOT be enforcing the “requests” on locals. Thanks to a fellow FReeper for asking them. Not that I open carry anyway but have seen some do so.
The thing is, I have shopped at Cub for as long as I can remember and I have NEVER seen anyone open carry.
A solution to a problem that doesn’t exist.
We’ll just have to wait and see what the bad guys response too this is.
Most, if not all Cub Foods stores in the Twin Cities area also have TCF Banks inside. Many have been robbed at gunpoint.
Ingles for me here in N Ga.
Having worked in the retail industry for a number of years I really do think a lot of this is driven by the fact that they don’t trust their minimum-wage help to exercise common sense.
Sally Jo part-time cashier sees a man with a gun walk in. She immediately assumes he is there to rob the place, or is there to conduct a mass shooting. She calls 911, the SWAT team shows up and all hell breaks loose. Joe Law Abiding Open Carrier gets plugged in the chest and dies in Aisle Five.
That is their nightmare scenario I’m sure.
