Right you are. In 2016 the legislature, despite being Democrat majority, overwhelmingly passed a law that would have allowed PGE to bypass red tape by working directly with municipalities to eliminate dangerous trees and brush near power lines, thereby reducing the risk of fires in a wind event.

Governor Jerry Brown vetoed the measure, I suspect because of campaign donations from trials lawyers, the Sierra Club, etc.

Maybe CA should take over PG&E and run it themselves, if they are so all-knowing?

And as a state agency, no lawsuits! The state is responsible for nothing!
