If a large comet hit the middle of Canada 12,800 years ago it would have vaporized glaciers miles deep—and molten remnants of the earth below it would have been discharged into the atmosphere—causing fires all over the North American Continent.
This would have caused rapid melting and run off down to the gulf of Mexico and Baja California. If you have ever flown over the desert US you know “something” washed through there not that long ago (geologically.)
People who think all changes are from “slow erosion” are not thinking BIG enough.
“If you have ever flown over the desert US you know something washed through there not that long ago (geologically.)”
ABSOLUTELY! Something washed over it in a big way. While you find minimal erosion that happened after, it was indeed completely flooded over and washed away in one huge event. The current hypothesis is that when the Yucatan Impact happened it splashed a massive amount of ocean over North America. This is also feasible and possible to explain the flooding we see. But it may have happened more than once, they also think an asteroid event happened in the pacific ocean and did the same.
Carolina Bays Ice Bombardment

The guy has other vids where he goes into a lot more detail.
VERY large chunks of ice could have been blown down to the Carolinas as well as other places and caused the eliptically oriented water and land features called The Carolina Bays. See Firestones book for some of that.
