I would argue that your average white woman is not as dangerous as your average black man.

Remember, Jesse Jackson did not get scairt when white people walked up on him. But he did when it was black men.

I think she over-reacted - but I would go for my gun too if i walked into the wrong apartment and saw a black guy there. I would not have shot unless attacked, but I would have been prepared.

Maybe you haven't been following this case. She didn't "walk in and see a black guy". She went to put her key in and found the door was ajar. Then, she heard someone inside (probably the TV, as he was sitting on his couch, watching TV with a bowl of ice cream) what she thought was her apartment while she was still OUTSIDE in the HALL. Instead of stepping back and calling for backup (she was in uniform, including radio), she drew her weapon, opened the door and entered to confront the "intruder". Considering her mindset, I think the shooting was almost unavoidable at that point.
