Some yrs ago I got into it with a famous News commentator.
His claim was Man causing increased El Niño and in turn Global Warming.
I suggested volcanism off the S. American could be the reason. Part of the Ring of Fire.

The only valid answer science can currently give is "insufficient data". There is WAY too much of the ocean floor unmapped to provide a statistically valid data set".
