I also don’t believe Trump does things for single purposes.

Dan Coats was only recently removed from the post of DNI. There were sure to be stay-behinds loyal to the DS among his staff.

This may also have been a canary trap to finish cleaning that nest out.

But as to the impeachment, the dems have done him the favor of making this public. Now Trump and his lawyers can respond in kind.
