You should never “ cold turkey” off this or any benzodiazepine. If you stop opiates abruptly you feel miserable. You don’t have life threatening symptoms. Stop benzos and you can have the equivalent of DTs with severe seizures..

Yes--dangerous! I've read the same at quite a few medical sites. It's all over the Net. Have a look at the withdrawal manual linked in my comment #38. I don't know whether or not it's the best, but it's something. Professor Ashton did quite a bit of research and worked with many people. Hoping all the best for you, dp0622.

Yes and no. Yes, going cold turkey, suddenly stopping a medication without first consulting with a doctor can be very unpleasant at the least, and sometimes even deadly at the worst. But benzodiazepines are not opiates. It may be a distinction without a difference however in terms of their potential for addiction and withdrawal symptom for some.
