As I read it, it was the county folks who were trying (weakly) to protect him -- until they finally put an armed guard in the cell with him and the two (disarmed) visitors -- and, then, the the county guys tossed the "visitors" out, permanently...

But, I agree, county LEOs would have kept a better watch...

But, what seemed really odd to me was zero mention of medical intervention during his jail time. No LeO would find a prisoner "worked over" --- and NOT call for medical evaluation -- if for no reason other than self-protection...

There were elements about which I have some knowledge that seemed to track, pretty well. But, other places -- not so much.

I repeat myself: "Not sure my questioning mind "buys" it..."

Also pinging Bags, because I, too, would like to know his "take" on this tale...

I seem to read this situation the same way you do. You identify some of the strongest question marks I have in my mind. SO far, the only “justification” or “explanation” that comes close to making the behavior of the guards/warden “fit” is if this wasn’t their first rodeo and they had reason to fear the “unarmed FBI” because the Deep State had that kind of control over them. Possibly that they had held and concealed F_I abuse of prisoners in the past (leverage over them?).

And then when the abuse reached a point the warden realized that it was actually likely he’d be prosecuted if he didn’t stop the “damage” to the prisoner (too much physical evidence), then he threw the “unarmed men” out and took the flack from above saying, “Look, I’m doing you a favor - those guys are leaving physical evidence of torture...” or “I can end up serving time in the same cell anyway if I don’t do something to intervene.”

And so “checking out” a prisoner was the negotiated alternative worked out between the warden and the “management” who wanted this guy beaten. Denying access to a doctor could theoretically be to avoid physical evidence that support accusations made later (e.g., now).

But I still don’t know how a person survives waterboarding with kerosene etc. It’s the brutality that kind of rings “true” because the DS agitates for nuclear war, kills/tortures babies etc. so they ARE sociopaths who exerciser their delusions of power of the lives (and deaths) of people made helpless one way or another.

There are question marks and there are (horrible) ways this story makes sense. I don’t know if the question marks flag areas where the story falls apart legitimately or areas where I cannot conceive of the depths of depravity to which some of “these people” sank.
