Did you hear Potus earlier at the wall. He said that thought about 500-550 wall would be all they needed. The remaining would be taken care of by the mountains and rivers.
I remember a couple years back watching a film of the entire Rio Grande. The river is so deep in the gorge that it cannot be crossed. Walls much higher and extremely steep on each shore. (In the middle a raging river. )
Some areas are already part of damn/ reservoir systems. Those will need a different type of patrol.
