I believe 2 battleships were sunk on December 7th, 1941, the Arizona and the Nevada.

Arizona, Oklahoma, Nevada, West Virginia and California were battleships that were sunk as a result of the attack.

Only Arizona and Oklahoma were never returned to service. Oklahoma was re-floated and later sank while in transit for scrapping.

Utah was also sunk but was a former battleship being used as a target ship. No attempt was made to recover her either. She is one of the least mentioned wrecks in Pearl Harbor.

West Virginia and California subsequently delivered personal retribution to the Imperial Navy at Surigao Strait, in October 1944.

14” main gun ammunition was salvaged from the Arizona’s after magazines in 1942-43...I like to think at least a few of those rounds were fired that night.
