Mine was from Todtenhausen in Nordrhine-Westfalen. There are lots of German communities in southwestern Illinois where I grew up. There’s a tiny town named Darmstadt in St. Clair County.
Lots of Germans in southern Illinois. My grandfather owned a farm down there over by Ridgeway.
