i still look at pics of epstein and am rendered speechless at how evil and sick the man was/is.

Presumably to control their research agenda, or at least to accelerate research that he found interesting (e.g., AI and man/machine integration).
Money Laundering?
Recruitment?
Blackmail?
Why would you want CONTROL over an institution that funnels Billions of Dollars in taxpayer money through it's tentacles in the defense/educational complex?
What if that institution also trafficked in the business or smart, malleable, young people? Bonus, right?
