Some CD’s sound like crap but that is the fault of the producer, not the format.

To me CDs are marginally superior in sound to vinyl. The main difference being the stereo separation which you won’t notice in casual listening. Or if you’re into orchestral music then CD’s extra dynamic range might matter but not for most music.

But vinyl is so much more fun than CDs. Just the big 12” x 12” covers and all that.

MP3 and streaming digital is compressed but the modern compression algorithms are so good that you barely notice them.

I’d probably be more interested in modern digital if there were more modern music worth listening to.
