Personally, I don't care for horror movies. Am I trying to ban them? No. I simply don't watch them.

You have consistent principles, and a base philosophy that lets you do things like ignore things you don't like. I bet you graduated from high school before 1990, when there was still some semblance of the American Creed taught.

"I Disapprove of What You Say, But I Will Defend to the Death Your Right to Say It" -Voltaire. We all learned this and were taught it was what differentiated the USA from Communist police states and dictatorships.

The Left are just power mad, and seem to look at everything as an opportunity to increase their power.

Rahm Emanuel's famous comment: "Never let a good crisis go to waste" is an operating manual for these people.

There are a few things I find amusing in discussion with my left leaning acquaintances. One is they all hold onto the idea that they are fighting "the man", and that Conservatives and Republicans are "the establishment". When you point out to them that all the biggest and more powerful corporations that are acting badly (Apple, Google, Facebook, Twitter) are run by dedicated Leftists, and that corporate giving goes 10 to 1 in favor of the Democrats they respond with a queasy look.

So, we're in a bad place. 1/2 of America doesn't understand and believe in our shared traditions and values. Instead, they view everything as an opportunity to bash the rest of us and destroy their "opponents".

The shutting down of 8chan was completely predictable given the above. That doesn't mean it was warranted. And it certainly isn't cause of celebration.

8chan is the canary in America, the coal mine.

The First Amendment is under terrible threat right now. In the heart of the Cold War American Communists were allowed to organize and publish newspapers and books.

The America of the current year doesn't see a problem with mega-corporations controlling the means of information dissemination and banning dissidents. We really are more like Russia in the Soviet Era when authors like Solzhenitsyn could not get published.

We’ve got a bunch of leftists who reject history so they don’t really know what caused the other experiments in universal socialism to fail, in fact they wouldn’t probably even admit they failed. A lot of people look back on their time as Soviets fondly, because everybody was poor but everybody pulled together. But the old Soviet Union was a reactionary government. They were protecting the culture they had received, bad as it may have been in some ways. Anyways, since they are bound to make the same mistakes the other erstwhile utopians made, so it should be easy to foil.
