This whole thing has been a keystone cops routine. One of the biggest arrests of the past two centuries, with tons of high-level corrupt associated suspects, and no one even thinks to arrest the accomplices at the same time, search the offender’s properties, or even protect the perpetrator against an unfortunate sudden death.

I won’t necessarily say he didn’t. However, since just about everybody who looked at the situation thought Epstein was a dead man walking, it was incumbent on Barr not just to give orders to highly dubious people that Epstein be protected and turn his back, but to be intensively proactive, including direct personal intervention, if necessary, to make sure Epstein stayed alive. He didn’t; he screwed up.

Epstein was not supposed to stay alive, My FRiend. Everyone with the sense to get in out of the rain, including him, knew that he was a living dead man. The only two questions were When and how. He was not about to divulge he possessed to prosecutors concerning the powers that be. Nor did they desire him to.
