Anyone with a cellphone can tell you battery life is an issue. While wireless shifting is interesting I think
a smooth shifting under load and some feedback on what the shift is more important.

I also had a bike that didn’t want to die, a steel alloy Fuji 21 speed, 3 chainrings, lots of duplication in the gears and heavy.

I like the idea on 11 or 12 gears and only one shifter.

Most of the pros are racing with wireless shifters. If they can complete a 5- or 6-hour ride without worrying about batteries, I won't have any problem with a 1-hour time trial or a 4-hour training ride.

My concern is cost. Those systems ain't cheap. And like everything else in the cycling world, there's a new model out every year.

Right now, I've got Shimano Dura-Ace 9000 and SRAM Red. The Shimano's have always worked flawlessly, the SRAM only an occasional glitch. I can't justify the cost of wireless right now. But if I upgrade, that will be on the wish list.
