LEXAN is a brand name for clear polycarbonate material. There are other brands. It is very tough and resistant to penetration, even "Bulletproof" if thick enough, but it degrades in sunlight. The portlights on my boat needed replacing after about 5 years.
Hmmm I wondered about how sunlight would affect it.
So there’s not a good alternative? I thought that was the bst available. Maybe replacing every 5 years is the best we can do. So much for making a dome greenhouse out of it. What about polycarbonate? Tough glass with wires through it? Just fantasizing anyway.
Would LEXAN etc. degrade if a layer of glass was on the sun side?
