The alleged Russian spy, Maria Butina, was the person he was supposed to engage to learn what she was doing in the US. She was subsequently tried and convicted of failing to register as an agent of a foreign government. She was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
There is a lot of controversy about who Butina really was and whether she was trying to infiltrate the NRA and link its activities to Russia. Wheels within wheels. Byrne may be flakey, but he has credibility. Dartmouth undergrad, Marshall scholar at Cambridge, and a PhD from Stanford. His father was a bigwig at Berkshire Hathaway, Buffet’s company.
Byrne supposedly turned over emails and other documents to DOJ in April of this year.
He says Butina will be pres of Russia and that they were short selling Overstock so that Russia could use bitcoins to buy F35s and that nuclear subs are heading for San Diego...does any of this make sense?
