With the world in a general and pretty predictable warming trend (unrelated to our activities) Greenland is going to open up into some pretty interesting territory. The Vikings were able to conduct some rudimentary pastoral farming there, but they got caught at the beginning of a down turn in the overall cycle. Looking out a couple hundred years though, a Greenland minus a big chunk of its ice is going to be prime settlement land, kind of a modern day “last frontier” where lots of ambitious and pot stirrers can be wooed off to to absorb their energy.

The North Pole is migrating - towards the east and somewhat South I believe. There is speculation that London could end up in the arctic... not sure how that would affect Greenland, but I have heard that Florida could end up equatorial. Yikes!
