The union members expect to be paid to attend political events. It’s a given so my neighbors tell me.
I own a company that has both Chicago Carpenters and Laborers (both over priced big time). It is “suggested” we pay them, but not mandated. We do not pay them one penny for political issues.

I always wonder about Chicago. Like it much better than NYC, for visiting :-)
