“Hurricane Dorian wreaks havoc on Abaco, eye moving over island now”
FTA:As Hurricane Dorian, the strongest storm ever to hit the northwestern Bahamas, continued to pound Abaco on Sunday afternoon, it unleashed untold damage across parts of the island and caused widespread flooding.
Photos and videos posted to social media show the desperate attempts by many to get to safety as their homes filled with water and their roofs began to lift.
Several residents called from the Bahamian people to pray for them and their families as the catastrophic category 5 storm unleashed its fury.
Sustained winds increased to speeds of 185 miles per hour with gusts over 200 miles per hour as the storm approached the island. The intensity also makes the storm the strongest ones on record in the Atlantic.
