Here's a picture of the ferry picking up or dropping off hikers at the back of Thomas Alvin Edison Lake, where Mono Creek dumps into the lake. I captain the boat multiple times a day when we are busy, and twice a day when we are slow. The dam can be seen, looking south in the distance, just above the water line. The hikers are either on the Pacific Crest Trail, hiking from Mexico to Canada, distance 2,652 miles, or the John Muir Trail, distance 221 miles, hiking from Happy Isle in Yosemite National Park, to Mt. Whitney, highest point in the lower 48 states, rising to 14,508 feet.
