Excuse me for just jumping right in here. My first thought, seeing the number 17 on the lapel of Cousy, is that he wore it in honor of his, fairly recently deceased teammate, John Havlicek.

“My first thought, seeing the number 17 on the lapel of Cousy, is that he wore it in honor of his, fairly recently deceased teammate, John Havlicek”

I though the same, but when I checked, Cousy retired in 1962 and Havlicek was drafted in 1962, so the most they could have played together was 1 year. Still, it could be a tribute.

” A young John Havlicek played with Cousy for a short period, but has said he “made a living off Bob Cousy,” referring to Cousy’s famous passes.”
