Morning, pax!
Good to see you. So glad that you had a nice getaway, with friends, to the lake.
We’ve been discussing cooler climes to escape to.....Rusty and I are sick and tired (literally!), from this heat. I almost passed out, from the heat, a couple of weeks ago. NOT FUN!!
I think the heat index is worse, this summer, than it’s been in many years. At least it feels that way, to me :(
I’ve probably already asked you this, but, how far are you from closest major airport and from ‘good’ docs?
We might just move in w/you...or, become your neighbor!
And CO NEEDS more good conservatives to move there.
Going out for my walk now.
Back in a few......
My daughter wants to escape too. I looked into LG’s neck of the woods, but not sure there would be employment opportunities for my daughter.
Good morning, Jane and Rusty!
Either plan works for me!!! What fun!!!
Were easy driving distance to both. Airport drive and good doctors were on our must-have list when we were house-shopping.
When I was in the Houston area to see my aunt a few days ago I wondered how I had lived in that heat for so long!
Some people love it and others tolerate it well, but cooler weather is much better for my health - and comfort!
Were about an hour from the airport (easy drive - almost all freeway) and were a half hour from downtown Denver, but youd never know it because when youre in the foothills its quiet and it feels like youre in the country. Best of both worlds.
Also, anyone in the Denver area who complains about traffic hasnt had to drive in the Houston area very much! The main thing to pay attention to here is weekend traffic into and out of the mountains and weather-related traffic, which, for retirees, is seldom a problem if you plan ahead.
We get snow in the winter, but not nearly as much as the higher elevations receive. Also, its not as cold here as you might think. Our winter average temps are daytime about 50 and nights are mostly in the 20s. Its dry here so those temps are very comfortable and winters here are mostly sunny!
There is bus service to and from the city here and the the rail service has a station in Golden, just at the base of the foothills, all the way to the airport which is east of the city, the bus service makes stops at the rail stations.
At higher elevations the snow can be a problem but here there are only occasional issues. I have a four wheel drive Expedition and it handles the roads well in the winter. Like lots of folks here we switch out summer and winter tires. Four wheel or all wheel drive are great on winter roads.
Sending yall a quick email now.
Mail.
Gotta run!
