We have a very good medical center here that is continuing to expand and bring in more doctors, bring in 2 Urologists from Oregon that fly back and forth, one or the other is always here.
We also have some very excellent specialized doctors.
Many young docs moving here as it is an excellent place to raise a family, far enough away from all the crud going on in the big cities, sure they don’t make as much money but the good out weighs the bad.
We don’t have to go to Phx or Flag unless we want a 2nd opinion.
Extreme trauma patients are flown out to Barrows in Phx and there are cases that St. Josephs or Mayo Clinic are best in dealing with.
When my friend passed out, had a stroke, she was sent to Mayo because of her unique condition of having prosthetic vocal cords which the EMT destroyed when he intubated her, couldn’t be helped.
This is my friend I ferry back and forth to the foot doctor who had throat cancer back in the early 80’s
Thanks for the med info, about your area, Gran.
Good to know. Makes sense that the younger docs are moving to your area....to get away from city and enjoy a cooler climate. Reminds me of a Hallmark Movie storyline :)
And, wonderful that Mayo/Barrows are within a drive, or an airlift, away.
Your friend is lucky to have YOU as a friend and doc visit companion. How is her foot doing, now? Much better, I hope.
Our hospital is affiliated with Adventist Health and they get doctors from Loma Linda medical school to come here for two year contracts, but they always leave at the end-so we are always looking for a new doctor. My specialists are three hours away. It’s ok, because I still drive, but what about when I’m older?
I want to move and my husband won’t even talk about it. I hate California anyway, even if I don’t live in the liberal part of it.
