Correct. I've heard Steve Quayle, the author of this book and many more say exactly that several times in interviews.
He also quotes a passage from the autobiography written by Buffalo Bill Cody speaking about legends told to him by Indians concerning large human-like creatures than ran down buffalos much someone treating a goat these days.
