Before 1955, Coke was sold in 6.5 oz bottles. A 12 oz bottle was introduced in 1955, and the 12 oz cans in 1960. No one was addicted to Coke. The “Big Gulp” was introduced by 7/11 in 1976.

I remember this radio jingle back in the early 50s. “Pepsi cola hits the spot,12 full ounces that’s a lot, twice as much for a Nickle too, PEPSI COLA is the drink for you”.
That’s when coke was in the 6 oz bottles.

I remember when they addd penny changers to coke machines in order to charge 6 cents for a Coke. Seems like that lasted a few weeks then the dime changers replaced both of them.
