Reminds me of working in a large plant that had mail delivery by robot 30 years ago. The company had to do a lot to create a guidance system within the buildings, the electronic cart was loaded in the mailroom and followed its route, stopping at each mail delivery point and I believe it beeped to alert a person to come and pick up the mail, then send it on its way. Recollect discussion that the company came up with this after a Union strike - let people know how expendable they are even if it cost a fortune to replace them at the time.

There was a scenario in the series The Americans where a mail robot was in use at the FBI the sleeper spies compromised that mail system almost immediately.
Five or more years ago the York (PA) Hospital had a robot med cart that delivered meds on the various floors. However, in visiting folks there several times recently I did not see it at all. That may have been a passing fad.
