It’s not the ‘give a deposition’ thing.
It’s the ‘have an ID’ thing.
Potentially hostile guests in a corporate/campus setting do NOT usually get an ID. They’re WITH someone at all times. And having been FIRED, he was automatically hostile. I worked big corporate in security and NEVER heard of anything like this happening with someone who had been fired. If you were friends with someone who was fired you never ever invited them back on campus. Even in the public part of the parking lot was dodgy if someone saw you. Much less past ‘badged access points’.
And given that he was FIRED there are lots of other places he could give a deposition that aren’t FBI head quarters.
Most depositions happen at a lawyer’s office, for example.
